Free-machining brass for high-volume fittings, fasteners, and connectors — among the most productive materials on a Davenport, with excellent finish and chip control at maximum throughput.

Grades & Alloys

360 brass

360 brass is the workhorse free-machining brass, prized for its excellent chip formation, corrosion resistance, and ability to hold fine detail in turned parts. It is perfect for high-volume screw machining of fittings, connectors, and precision hardware used across aerospace support systems and general industry. Davenport multi-spindle screw machines are specifically designed to maximize throughput in 360 brass, while the Hybrid can bring CNC accuracy and quick setup flexibility when tolerances or complexity increase.

C464 (naval brass)

C464 naval brass offers better strength and corrosion resistance—especially in marine or corrosive environments—than standard brasses, while still machining well. It is commonly used for components exposed to moisture or seawater, such as marine hardware and certain aerospace ground-support elements. The Davenport Hybrid’s ability to run tougher copper alloys with enhanced rigidity and digital size control helps Gates Albert keep C464 cycle times low while consistently holding seal faces and critical diameters.

ECO Brass

ECO Brass is a lead-free, high-performance brass that provides excellent machinability, strength, and corrosion resistance, and helps customers meet RoHS and environmental regulations. Lead-free brasses tend to behave differently at the tool edge than traditional 360, making chip control and tool wear management more critical. Davenport Hybrid machines, designed specifically to address issues with stainless and lead-free alloys, apply high-pressure coolant, advanced chip-breaking, and rigid multi-spindle cutting to keep ECO Brass parts running efficiently and within tight dimensional tolerances.
